Optics Engineer

What you’ll do:
- Perform detailed optical design & tolerancing of augmented reality display & test systems
- Generate component specifications & interface with suppliers
- Conduct advanced analysis of optical systems (e.g., straylight)
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on component mounting & system assembly
- Present to cross functional teams at design reviews
- Design, build, & validate lab setups for testing optical components & systems
- Complete root cause analysis of optical component & system failure mechanisms
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of sequential & non-sequential optical design software (e.g., Zemax, CODE V, LightTools)
- Knowledge of scientific programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW)
- Knowledge of Optical alignment & breadboarding
- Comfort with rapidly changing or ambiguous requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in optical engineering, physics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in optical engineering
- Experience with near-eye displays, micro-displays (e.g., LCoS, DLP, OLED), polarization, rapid prototyping.
